Early Football Roots
The Tyabb Football Club was first formed in 1899 and became a foundation member of the Peninsula Football Association in 1908. In the early years, Tyabb was highly competitive, winning three consecutive premierships (1921, 1922, 1923) in the Peninsula District Football Association.
The club later went into recess due to low numbers, returning in the early 1930s to the Mornington Peninsula Football League, where it won the 1932 premiership. During the introduction of district football, Tyabb joined with neighbouring Hastings as “Tyabb/Hastings” until World War II. The club reformed in 1948 but went into recess again in 1952.
Members of the Tyabb Cricket Club reformed the football club, joining the Nepean Football League (later part of the MPNFL). That same year, the Tyabb Junior Football Club was born — initially run by the seniors before forming its own committee.
Tyabb’s Under-18s made the Grand Final, a proud moment for the growing junior program.
The senior side won the Nepean Division Premiership, defeating Keysborough, while the reserves also topped the ladder.
The Tyabb Junior Football Netball Club continued to grow but was forced into a break during the COVID pandemic.
Tyabb fielded U9s, U12s, U13s, U14s, and U16s boys’ teams. Partnering with Somerville formed the Westernport Pumas for girls’ U14 and U16 teams, and Pearcedale joined for U18 girls’ footy. A successful Auskick program welcomed many new families to the club.
2024 saw another a great AUSKICK under the guidance of TFNC Senior Coach, Matt Haverfield. Our U16’s took out a Grand Final in against Cranbourne, Coached by Mark Stewart, but sadly lost that team to other clubs the following year.
The club officially became the Tyabb Junior Football Netball Club, registering with Consumer Affairs and the ATO, and launching a new website, socials, and emails — marking a proud new chapter.
Introduction and Growth of Netball
Netball joined the club in 2010 under the leadership of President Kat Bell. Tyabb fielded two senior teams (A & B Grade) that year and quickly made their mark.
Under Coach Joh Curran, Tyabb’s A Grade team claimed the club’s first netball championship.
Coached by Stephen Murray, the A Grade team went undefeated and won by a single point after the siren.
Both A and B Grade netball teams took home premierships, cementing Tyabb’s place as a powerhouse club.
Coached by Tara Ralph, took out the 2025 Spring Comp winning the Grand Final against Mt Eliza. It was a close game just pushing ahead 18-16.
By 2022, Tyabb had expanded into junior and senior divisions, including an Under-17s team and multiple grades (A, B, C, D) in the MPNFL Nepean Division. The Net Set Go program launched in 2023, bringing great participation and Friday night fun. By 2024–2025, two Tyabb teams reached their Grand Finals — a sign of strong growth and dedication.
Club Identity, Achievements & Legacy
The club officially became the Tyabb Football Netball Club around 2011, uniting both sports under one proud identity.

Neil and Joyce Hose, with sons Darren, Brett, Fraser and Mathew, have been pillars of Tyabb’s success. Mat Hose has played 250 + senior games, earned multiple Best & Fairest titles, and continues serving in coaching and committee roles — a true embodiment of Yabby spirit.
The Hose family’s multi-generational contribution is woven deeply into the fabric of the Tyabb Football Netball Club — a legacy of loyalty, passion and pride.
